BRUTE BLOCK
Brute Block is a colorful interpretation of DC's most iconic work of brutalist architecture, The Washington Metro. Originally commissioned in 2022 as a construction barricade cover up, the design was later readapted into a more permanent fixture for L'Enfant Station's northernmost entrance.
Up close, Brute Block shows a clear reference to the bold architecture of the station below, while from afar it can be read as a natural pattern; interrupting the surrounding concrete with a lush pop of color.
